Currently serving as Professor of Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Solar Engineering at the Cyprus University of Technology, he has established himself as a leading figure in sustainable energy research over his extensive career. Born in Trachonas, a suburb of Nicosia, Cyprus, he earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glamorgan in 1995 and subsequently received the prestigious Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree from the same institution in 2011.
