Dr. Robert Weinberg is a distinguished scholar and pioneering figure in the field of sport psychology whose work has fundamentally shaped the discipline over four decades. He currently holds the position of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Sport Leadership and Management at Miami University in Ohio following a distinguished academic career that established him as one of the field's leading authorities. His educational foundation was established at Brooklyn College where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education before pursuing advanced studies at the University of California Los Angeles where he obtained his Master of Science in Kinesiology and both Master of Arts and Doctorate in Psychology. Prior to his tenure at Miami University Dr Weinberg served as a Regents Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of North Texas from 1978 to 1992 where he established himself as a leading researcher and educator in the emerging field of sport psychology.
Dr. Weinberg's most influential contribution to the field is his co-authorship of the seminal textbook Foundations of Sport and Exercise Psychology now in its seventh edition with an eighth edition forthcoming which has become the most widely used sport psychology textbook globally and serves as the primary introduction to the discipline for undergraduate students worldwide.
