Dr. Elward Crawford is a distinguished urologist and internationally recognized expert in prostate cancer research and treatment. He currently serves as Professor of Urology at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine where he joined the faculty in 2019, bringing decades of clinical and research expertise to one of the nation's leading academic medical centers. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1973, he completed his urology residency at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and fellowship training at UCLA, establishing the foundation for his remarkable career in urologic oncology. Prior to his appointment at UCSD, Dr. Crawford held the position of Emeritus Distinguished Endowed Professor of Surgery, Urology, and Radiation Oncology at the University of Colorado, where he made significant contributions to the field for many years.
Dr. Crawford's research has profoundly impacted the understanding and treatment of advanced urological malignancies, particularly in the areas of metastatic adenocarcinoma of the prostate, hormone refractory prostate cancer, and advanced bladder cancer.
